Prepare your yard for stump work

Before scheduling

Confirm that you own the property or have permission to authorize the work. Share access constraints and ask the provider who handles utility-location notices, permits, and neighborhood or association rules.

Mention private systems that public utility marking may not cover, including irrigation, low-voltage lighting, invisible pet fencing, drainage, and private electric lines.

Clear the equipment route

Move toys, hoses, furniture, decorations, and pet waste from the agreed route. Unlock gates and make sure parked vehicles will not block the driveway or equipment path.

Do not remove flags or paint from utility marking. Keep people and pets indoors or well outside the provider's work zone.

Confirm the finish before work begins

Review grinding depth, visible-root scope, chip placement, haul-away, backfill, and restoration before the machine starts. Photograph the area if nearby pavement, fencing, or landscaping condition may matter later.

Plan for settling afterward

Expect a mixture of chips and soil. Ask whether settling is likely and whether topsoil, seed, or haul-away is included. Keep the completed scope and provider contact information with your property records.
